Complaints

What was said, and what you did about it, kept together on one thread.

Write it down as it came in

The complaint, and who made it, whether or not they gave a name.

Add what you did about it

Each thing you do is a new entry. Nothing you wrote before is overwritten.

Nothing goes quiet

A complaint with nothing added for a week is listed, so it does not get forgotten.

Written down once

The complaint as it was made, and who made it.

Handled over time

A running list you add to, not a box you type over.

Closing is just an entry

If it comes back, add a newer entry and the record is open again.

Who it is about

The children or staff involved, recorded on the complaint.

Set your childcare up in a few minutes.

No card, no import, no setup call. Add a record and see how it fits.

Regulation 32

What Tusla asks for

  • A record of each complaint.
  • A record of how each one was dealt with.
  • A complaints policy behind it.

Reg 32: S.I. 221/2016 Reg 32 (Doc[48]); QRF Full and Part Time Day Care Reg 32 (Doc[86])

What it doesn't do

  • We do not read your complaints policy. A perfect list of complaints can still fall down on what the policy leaves out.
  • We do not keep the complainant updated. That part is yours.

Questions

Where does my complaints policy live?
Under Documents, with the rest. The list of complaints and the policy are two different things.
What if a complaint comes back?
Add a newer entry. The most recent entry decides whether the complaint is open, so it reopens on its own.
