Incidents

Record them as well as parent's acknowledgements.

Write down what happened

When, where, who, what, and everything you did about it.

Say if Tusla has to be told

Five kinds of incident have to be reported. You pick, and the list shows where each one stands.

Nothing gets forgotten

Anything you have not reported yet is listed, with the children it involved.

Step 1

Write down what happened

Step 2

Say if Tusla has to be told

Five kinds of incident have to be reported. You pick, and the list shows where each one stands.

Step 3

What is still outstanding, in one list

An incident you have marked as reportable but not yet sent stays on your Tusla page until you do. Parent confirmations are tracked the same way, so you can see at a glance who has not confirmed yet.

One list

Every incident, with the children involved recorded on it.

The five reportable kinds

Death, serious injury, infectious disease, closure, missing child.

Parents confirm they have seen it

Their confirmation is kept on the incident, so nothing rests on memory.

Only their own child

A parent sees their own child, and only their own child named on the record.

Reg 31: S.I. 221/2016 Reg 31 (Doc[47]); QRF Full and Part Time Day Care Reg 31 (Doc[81])Reg 25: S.I. 221/2016 Reg 25 (Doc[41]); QRF Full and Part Time Day Care Reg 25 (Doc[198])

What it doesn't do

  • We do not send the notification. Writing an incident down is not reporting it.
  • We do not decide whether an incident has to be reported. You choose.
  • We do not hold first aid certificates or say who is trained.

Questions

Does it count the three working days for me?
It lists an incident you have not reported yet, and says the deadline is three working days. Working the date out and sending the notice is still yours.
Can a parent see other children?
No. A parent sees only incidents involving their own child, and only their own child is named.
